As Black women, we are taught that your hair is your crown. Therefore, we were met with utter disappointment when the government stay-at-home order shut down "non-essential" businesses and labeled beauty supply stores as such during the Coronavirus Pandemic. Beauty supply stores are not only essential to the black community, but are one of the most profitable industries, yet Black people profit the least from them due to the lack of ownership. Despite our 15 years of combined experience in the hospitality industry, we found ourselves struggling with job security due to COVID-19. This struggle, coupled with the need for Black-owned beauty supply stores led to the creation of The Beauty Trap.
The Beauty Trap is a Northwest Indiana-based mobile beauty supply store that aims to deliver products, styling tools, and accessories in a timely fashion. You can stay in, and stay cute!
